Cireng, Crispy and Chewy Snack!
What is cireng? It's Indonesian street food from West Java. It's known as a snack made from tapioca or sago starch.
Cireng is short term of aci digoreng. If I translate it into English, it means fried dough.
Since I have tapioca flour and have been craving something like gorengan. I decide to make cireng.
Tapioca flour, garlic, salt, water, and green scallions. Simple ingredient right? For the recipe, I just follow the instruction from some youtube videos.
It took almost 1 hour to finish it. To be honest, I made some mistakes while making it but I was glad it still tasted good.

Cireng for my snack. Photo by restyu. |
Cireng is known for its round shape. However somehow I ended up making various shapes and sizes. Even though, the shape is kinda weird. It's still so tasty!
It's crispy outside meanwhile the inside is still soft and chewy. The green scallion gives a fresh smell and taste.

Dip cireng in sauce sambal a bit. Photo by restyu. |
Since the seasoning is just simple, it tastes like just a bit of garlic and salt. But, I dip it in sauce sambal and it gives a bit of spiciness.
I guess I will try to make cireng again next time. Maybe, I will try to make it with the filling next time.
