Sempol A Street Food That I Have Never Tried in My Childhood

Another story of Indonesian street food this time. I just recently try this food. It's my second time, to be honest.

Sempol. It's a fried food made from tapioca. It's usually served with a special sauce.

I'm not quite familiar with this food, to be frank. In my school year, I'd never heard of this food. I just recently know this food and got curious.

So, my curiosity leads me to buy sempol in a nearby place. I end up buying sempol ayam. Yes since it has ayam in the name, it uses chicken too as the ingredients.

This street food isn't pricey at all. One sempol cost Rp 1.000. So, since I buy it for Rp 10.000, I get 10 sempol.

I don't know why but I always write about the smell of the food I tried here. So, if you're curious here's my short answer. It's just like any other fried food

It has a crispy texture outside and the inside is still chewy. I can taste a thin layer of egg outside. There's a slight taste of chicken too. It's salty and oily if you eat it.

The sauce is unique to me. It's slightly spicy, sweet, and sour. I believe there's a mix between chili sauce, tomato ketchup, and other ingredients.

If I combined sempol and the sauce it's a good combination. Sweet, spicy, sour, and salty on every bite.

Well, not gonna lie I like it. I don't know why but it a bit reminds me of my childhood. But surprisingly I never try it in my childhood.
